The Lampifier Model 111 Professional Microphone is a rugged, high performance phantom powered, cardioid mic with a patented, fully analog, transparent dynamic reduction system inside the handle.
Why? Live sound always has too much dynamic range for ideal sound reinforcement needs. The unique on-board circuit inside every Lampifier microphone the Model 111 mic reduces this range naturally and transparently, rendering dynamics in a more ideal range.
Of course sound engineers loves top down compression and limiting, but singers generally hate it! This is because singing into such settings tends to cause singers to push overly hard and blow out their voice. The Lampifier compression is different: Unlike standard compressors, Lampifier's unique technology reduces harsh plosives and pushes up light breathy nuances from both directions (up and down) without "crushing" dynamics entirely. So singers can still feel and work their normal dynamic range while the mic remains dynamically responsive, yet at the same time, it delivers to the sound engineer what is needed for a good mix. And this further tends to keep the voice at an appropriate level amid dense, high volume stage environments, too.
Can't you get this sort of thing out of other mics? Sure, with a good soundman and a rack of expensive processing you can achieve the same sound quality. But this means relying on a soundman to get it just right. (And let's face it... how often does that really happen?) With the Lampifier mic, it's plug in and go! The built in, self adjusting circuitry blows other sub $200 mics out of the water! In fact, comparing a Lampifier mic to a standard dynamic vocal mic is really an unfair comparison... expertly crafted dynamic control is a different animal than raw sound.
Also, the Lampifier circuit is fully analog, so there are no digital conversion noise or discoloration; the sound is warm and real. It's a game changer! It should be noted, however, that while the dynamic reduction is significant, it's designed to be subtle and transparent, without the common artifacts of standard compression technology. So yes, it's compressing, but less experienced singers may not even notice it! It just sounds "better." And that's exactly what it's supposed to do!
Built in noise gating, combined with the cardioid pickup pattern, offers good feedback rejection. Also, noise gate and dynamic compression levels are user adjustable (by altering jumpers inside the mic handle) but this is generally unnecessary as the circuit is to a large degree self adjusting--the result of the compression ratio changing automatically based on input signal level. Again, it's designed to be "set it and forget it."
The EQ of the Model 111 mic is based on the "tried and true" Shure SM58. It even looks a lot like the 58. Well, there's a reason the Shure SM58 has become the bread and butter of the sound reinforcement industry: It's rugged and it's the EQ curve, with pronounced upper midrange presence, that cuts through the mix and delivers in a live environment. The Lampifier 111 offers a similar construction and EQ curve, then ups the game to include the patented dynamic control... at an affordable price.
NOTE: The Lampifier company is no longer in business. This is leftover stock, which is why it's being clearanced so inexpensively here. This is a great, versatile product at a great price, however, it is sold with NO manufacturer warranty. In the unlikely event that a unit fails to operate, please return it within 14 days and we will ship you a replacement.
