The Secret Sauce!
As an ongoing private student of Troy, I was so excited to see the release of his Fretboard Mapping System. I have had to learn through hard knocks and private coaching that ear training was the missing key in my extensive background. In short, my mechanical skills had far outgrown my "natural" ear ability. Inner Ear Meets Fretboard!
The Fretboard Mapping System is far more than just scales and chord patterns, it's about truly connecting your inner ear to the fretboard so you instinctively know how every note will sound as you play it. I'm working on Step 3, and already the structured approach has given me clarity and confidence. What we're really training is the ability to improvise in real time, similar to how we communicate, what's in the mind comes out naturally. It's a slow process, but each step builds that connection, so I will be able to ultimately play what I hear in my mind just as effortlessly as speaking. The integration of inner ear development, theory, and fretboard structures makes this a revolutionary approach, and I'm excited to continue building on this foundation!
